Azure AD Legacy Graph API Retirement Extended to July 2026

Microsoft has extended the retirement date for the Azure AD Graph API from March 2026 to July 2026, giving organizations additional time to migrate applications to Microsoft Graph.

Microsoft has extended the retirement date for the Azure AD Graph API by four months, moving the deadline from March 31, 2026 to July 31, 2026. New retirement date: July 31, 2026. No further extensions are planned.

What You Still Need to Do

  • Audit Apps Using Azure AD Graph API
  • Migrate to Microsoft Graph API Equivalents
  • Update App Registrations in Entra ID

Use the Microsoft Entra recommendations in the Entra Admin Center to identify apps in your tenant still calling the Azure AD Graph API.

Our Take

This is the right call, but Microsoft is underselling how disruptive it'll be. Users have built years of muscle memory around that Chat / Teams split — expect a wave of support tickets the week it lands. Get ahead of it with a quick communication to your users before it shows up, not after.

Bottom Line
Good change, bad rollout timing for unprepared orgs. Send a user comm now.
