Microsoft 365 Message Center Now Supports Filtering by Affected Workload

The Microsoft 365 Message Center has added a new workload filter, letting admins quickly narrow the message list to only show updates relevant to specific services like Teams, SharePoint, or Exchange.

Microsoft has added workload-based filtering to the Microsoft 365 Message Center. Admins can now select one or more services — such as Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, or Intune — to filter the message list to only show updates relevant to those workloads. The filter persists across sessions.

Available now to all admins in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

New Filter Capabilities

  • Filter Messages by One or Multiple Workloads
  • Persistent Filter State Across Sessions
  • Combinable with Existing Tag and Status Filters

Access the new filter via Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Health > Message Center > Filter.

Our Take

This is the right call, but Microsoft is underselling how disruptive it'll be. Users have built years of muscle memory around that Chat / Teams split — expect a wave of support tickets the week it lands. Get ahead of it with a quick communication to your users before it shows up, not after.

Bottom Line
Good change, bad rollout timing for unprepared orgs. Send a user comm now.
