Microsoft has released firmware version 5.1.2 for Teams Rooms on Windows, resolving a known issue where switching HDMI displays in dual-display configurations caused a 3 to 7 second black screen. The update will be pushed automatically over the next 14 days.
No manual action required — auto-update will deploy within 14 days.
What's Fixed
- Dual-Display HDMI Switching Latency
- Improved Display Handoff Reliability

Admins who want to push the update immediately can do so via the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal.
Our Take
This is the right call, but Microsoft is underselling how disruptive it'll be. Users have built years of muscle memory around that Chat / Teams split — expect a wave of support tickets the week it lands. Get ahead of it with a quick communication to your users before it shows up, not after.
