Microsoft Teams Town Halls and Webinars Get a Facelift with New Custom Presenter Backgrounds

Microsoft Teams now lets organizers with Teams Premium upload custom branded backgrounds during live events, creating a more polished, broadcast-ready experience with logos and event visuals. This feature helps organizations reinforce brand identity and improve visual consistency across town halls, webinars, and large meetings without added complexity.

Our Take

HR and branding teams rejoice! This is a solid, practical improvement. It’s nice to finally have a built-in way to make events feel a little more branded and intentional without having to send a folder of images individually to all presenters ahead of time and hope they take the time to (or even know how to) set them up before the call.

Microsoft Teams is making it easier to put your brand front and center during live events.

Organizers and presenters who have access to production tools can now upload custom backgrounds in the “Manage what attendees see” experience for Teams events. Instead of relying on default visuals, organizations can swap in their own branded images. Things like company logos, event graphics, and themed artworks that match the event.

These custom backgrounds appear behind presenters and shared content, giving events a more intentional, broadcast-ready look and a better overall viewing experience for attendees.

A Simple Way to Add Brand Presence

For teams hosting town halls, webinars, or large internal meetings, this update adds a meaningful layer of polish. Custom backgrounds help reinforce brand identity and keep visuals consistent throughout an event, even as speakers or content change.

Because the feature lives directly within the event production experience, organizers can manage what attendees see without adding extra steps or tools.

Who Gets Access

This feature is:

  • Available to Teams event organizers with a Teams Premium license
  • Supported on Teams for Windows desktop and Mac desktop

It’s specifically designed for Teams events where production tools are enabled, making it a natural fit for more structured or high-visibility meetings.

Why It Matters

As Teams continues to be a go-to platform for company-wide and external-facing events, expectations around production quality keep rising. Custom backgrounds give organizations an easy way to elevate the look of their events, align visuals with brand standards, and deliver a more cohesive experience without turning every townhall into a full production lift.
